Ceri, I apologize for being one of "those people," who see a threat all around them, but, at the same time, precautions can help us to get through life; feathers are wonderful to use in art, but, if "harvesting in the wild," certain protective measures are needed. Not all feathers lying on the ground will be infested with bird mites, but there is a risk (mites are almost microscopic, so not discernable to the naked eye). Years ago, when I worked at a craft supply store, there was a regular customer who was always a joy (very creative, always very pleasant) who created collage; she did not come in for awhile, and when she did reappear, her face and hands were covered in a extreme red, scaly rash. What had happened is that she had found some feathers on the sidewalk and picked them up to use in collage, but unbeknownst to her, there were mites on the feathers. The results were not pretty. All this dire warning is not intended to discourage people to not use feathers, but to urge proper precautions; if you pick up feathers, wear gloves, or at least a tissue, place the feather in a plastic zip lock bag and once home, sanitize properly (Google search will give proper procedures). I hope I have not spread panic on your channel, as my intention is to give safety information so that you and your other viewers can create happily and safely. Feathers purchased in a store are safe, as they have been sanitized and not all feathers in the wild have mites; before I talked to my customer, I had occasionally picked up feathers with no ill effect. Anyway, the prints you made in this video are beautiful and I look forward to seeing the videos in this challenge!

But I have had a go 'squishing' fresh botanicals through my big shot onto paper with really cool impressions. The 'squished remains' leave an interesting relief effect. Bonus tip: 'squished' chive flowers are juicy and leave a beautiful relief; and bonus your craft room will smell of onion 😝😂. Have you ever tried 'squishing' botanicals through a big shot?

Hi Ceri. Fun video. The plastic circles and grid are called plastic canvas. I have some left over from my days of doing Plastic canvas and they are to old and brittle to use for their original use. Keep your eyes peeled for other shapes...they are out there. 😁 Love using natural elements too. Loved what you got from them. TFS Hope you have a great day. 🌞
